- St. Mary’s Catholic School will be holding an All You Can Eat Fish Fry on Friday, March 5 from 4:30–8 p.m. at the Morris American Legion. The meal includes: fish, baked beans, chips, coleslaw, bread, milk & coffee. Cost is $7 for adults, $4 Children under 12, and Children under 3 Free.
- This week marks a big change at Valu Ford & Chrysler in Morris as they prepare to consolidate their two stores, which will occur at start of business, Monday, March 8th. Some of the changes that will occur include the consolidation of staff members from both stores, a brand new website (which will go live on Monday – www.valuford.com), tools, equipment, and, of course, vehicle inventories. Sadly, a few familiar faces will be leaving Friday, March 5 as Valu Ford & Chrysler prepares for these changes. You are invited to drop by Friday, March 5, from 3–5 PM to say goodbye to Mike O’Keefe (Sales), Sam Raaum (Service Technician), and Paul Hendricks (Service Manager) on their last day at Valu Ford & Chrysler, Morris. Their years of service have been invaluable and your well wishes for them would be greatly appreciated.
- Please join with other cancer survivors on Saturday, March 6, from 1:30-2:30 at the Morris Senior Center as we celebrate life at the 2nd Annual Cancer Society Relay for Life Survivor Celebration. You are welcome to bring a guest and listen to special guest speakers. Pie and ice cream will be served.
- Fashion Cents will be closed Friday, Feb 26th-Monday, March 8th as they are heading to New York on a buying trip for this Spring and Summers latest fashions. Please be sure to stop in when they return to find the newest styles at an affordable price. Don’t let the recession keep you from making an impression!
- On Saturday, March 6, the Cattlemen will be holding their Steak supper from 3:30–8:30 p.m. at the Prairie Inn Tiger and Cougar rooms. The meal will include steak, baked potato, salad, bread, and milk or coffee for $5.
- If you are a student of genealogy or would like to be, the series to be presented at the Stevens County Historical Museum will be of interest to you. “Take 1″ – “Tips for Success in Genealogical Research” will be held on Saturday, March 6, will be offered by Mike R. Miller from 10:00 to noon. Please call the Museum at 320-589-1719 to reserve your place at these programs. There is no charge for the programs.
- The Morris Masonic Lodge will be hosting a Pancake and Sausage Feed on Sunday, March 7 from 7:00 AM–1:00 PM at the Morris American Legion. Cost for adults is $6, children $4 and Children under 3 Free. Proceeds from the feed will benefit local high school scholarships.
- The Herman/Norcross Sportsman’s Club is holding their
Annual Walleye Fish Fry on Sunday, March 7, from 10:30–1:00 at the Herman American Legion. Adult tickets are $9.00 in advance or $10.00 at the door, children 6-12 $5.00 and children 5 and under are FREE. For advance tickets contact Lisa Melchert at 320-815-398.
- The Symphonic Winds Collaborative Multi-Media Concert will be held on Sunday, March 7 at 3 p.m. in the UMM HFA Recital Hall.
- Build your own burger, brats & hotdog with all the trimmings on Tuesday, March 9. Habitat for Humanity is sponsoring this fundraiser to benefit the 2010 build. Enjoy chips, beans, juice and coffee with your sandwich at the Old #1 from 4:30–7 p.m. Free will donation.
- Wednesday, March 10: Multicultural Students in Morris, Part I. Students from China attending UMM will share their experiences and perceptions of UMM, Morris, and the U.S., and talk about their homeland. Part II, consisting of UMM students from various other countries, is scheduled for October. Morris Public Library Community Room, 1:00 p.m. Sponsored by Learning Unlimited.
- The Morris Public Library is hosting Minnesota author Eric Bergeson on Wednesday, March 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served. This event is sponsored by the Morris Friends of the Library. Contact the Morris Library at 589-1634 with questions.
- The Prairie Renaissance Cultural Alliance presents a very special St. Paddy’s Celebration! Come celebrate with Chuck & Michell Wencl and Skilly & Duff Irish Band on Friday, March 12th from 8 to 12 pm at the Old No. 1 Bar & Grill. Tickets are $7.00 at the door.
- The MN Deer Hunter’s Association Banquet will be held on Saturday, March 13 at the Morris National Guard Armory. If you would like to make a contribution or purchase a ticket, contact Erv Krosch at 320-760-6993 or 589-2916.
