Amy Kloos, owner of Hair Expressions Salon in Morris, would like to give a warm welcome to Heidi Paul! Heidi is not only a new stylist to Hair Expressions, but also does eyelash extensions, a new service at Hair Expressions! They are excited to welcome Heidi’s new and old clients to the salon. “I’m happy I made the change,” says Heidi. “I’m excited to work at Hair Expressions Salon with Amy and my clients seem to be excited too!” Also new at Hair Expressions: an option for customers to pay using their credit or debit cards. Cash and check are still welcome, as are credit cards.
There are a lot of new and exciting things going on with the salon that Amy started over six years ago. Although Amy does every service from haircuts, sets, styles, formal styles, colors, highlights, lowlights, perms, facial waxing, and more, her favorite thing to do is still haircuts. “You can have the most beautiful hair color or service done, but it takes a haircut to bring it out and make it look good.” Says Amy. Heidi admits her favorite service to do for customers is coloring; one other way that the two are a good pair to be in business together. They are both from this area originally and first met when they worked together at Reflections in Morris and became good friends. They have both went to cosmetology school at Ridgewater in Willmar and worked at several of the salons in the area before settling at Hair Expressions.
One thing that sets Hair Expressions apart from other salons is the quiet and tranquility. Since there is only one or two stylists there and only one or two customers, there is not a lot of extra blow dryers and conversations going, which creates a relaxing, homey environment. Amy and Heidi both say they enjoy getting to know their customers on a personal level, hearing their life stories, and getting to know them over the years. Having a smaller salon allows this to happen more naturally. They both love people! “Sometimes, you change people’s lives because you are like their part-time counselor,” says Amy. “Plus making them feel good about themselves is a win-win because they you feel good that you made them feel good,” Amy adds. Amy and Heidi also like the variety of clientele they have from college kids, to youth, to the elderly, and anywhere in between. They do a variety of salon treatments thanks to the many walks of life who come in. Amy loves her job so much, she ever says she’s more than happy doing this until retirement.
Although they know most people who come through their doors, Hair Expressions always welcomes new customers to walk-in. Although walk-ins are always welcome, they are not always guaranteed an appointment right away, but they will do their best to accommodate the people who come in their doors.
Hair Expressions is open Monday from 9am-5pm, Tuesday from 9am-7pm, Wednesday from 9am-5pm, Thursday from 9am-7pm, and Friday from 9am-4pm.
